1399 Avenue U is located inside one of Ottawa’s many Transit Oriented Development (TOD) zones. These areas have been identified by the city as being key zones for enhanced density and building heights. 1399 Avenue U conforms to the plans that were envisioned by the City for this particular site.
1399 Avenue U is conveniently located only a few minutes from major intercity transport networks. On and off ramps to Highway 417 are located a few blocks away from 1399 Avenue U, while the nearby Ottawa Train Station offers frequent VIA Rail train service to Toronto and Montreal.
1399 Avenue U is located adjacent to a large proposal for a major government employment node which will see improvements to the nearby areas. New offices, retail offerings and parkland dedication will help enhance the diversity of employment opportunities and amenities in the area.
The nearby retail hubs of St. Laurent Shopping Centre and Ottawa Train Yards offer a diverse range of shops and retail experiences, ranging from well known clothing chains to electronics stores, to stores specializing outdoor equipment and apparel. Cafes and restaurants are also found throughout both retail hubs.
