New and exciting developments are being planned near The Slayte which will help enhance the residential, retail, office, and cultural experience of both the Downtown and LeBreton Flats district. Of note is the proposed Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada Joint Facility which will be located less than 300m from The Slayte.
The Slayte takes a vacant office building and transforms it into a high-end community built for interaction. The use of the existing structure allows us to divert waste, and recycle while creating something beautiful from something old.
Due to the site’s proximity to an established community, we have worked closely with nearby stakeholders including adjacent landowners to enhance the project’s proper integration into the overall fabric and context of the community.
1399 Avenue U is located inside one of Ottawa’s many Transit Oriented Development (TOD) zones. These areas have been identified by the city as being key zones for enhanced density and building heights. 1399 Avenue U conforms to the plans that were envisioned by the City for this particular site.
1399 Avenue U is conveniently located only a few minutes from major intercity transport networks. On and off ramps to Highway 417 are located a few blocks away from 1399 Avenue U, while the nearby Ottawa Train Station offers frequent VIA Rail train service to Toronto and Montreal.
1399 Avenue U is located adjacent to a large proposal for a major government employment node which will see improvements to the nearby areas. New offices, retail offerings and parkland dedication will help enhance the diversity of employment opportunities and amenities in the area.
The nearby retail hubs of St. Laurent Shopping Centre and Ottawa Train Yards offer a diverse range of shops and retail experiences, ranging from well known clothing chains to electronics stores, to stores specializing outdoor equipment and apparel.
